316 stainless stick and pipe drops from the shipyard make good fittings for the spar. notice the the cleat on the aft end for the main outhaul.

strip planking

western red cedar makes a good composite "sandwich meat" with epoxy and fiberglass cloth. it is a slow process but it looks great and is pretty strong. 6 oz. e-glass wets out clear with a glue like system three or west systems resin.

the p.o.cedar spars will be capped on the ends with a short ss pipe to mount the eyes and the blocks.
